WebDU 2006 Starts
So, here we are again...only this year with a new name. ANZ User Group Meeting was interesting. Mark Blair and Mark Schulz from Adobe spoke about the direction Adobe are planning to take all the macromedia technologies. The good news is they're not planning of killing anything off and it seems they're still developing and improving some of the products you would expect to be retired. Freehand, fireworks, etc. Also, Mark Blair made it quite clear that they've changed the pricing on flex...apparently it's FREE now.. I should have been watching those flex lists more carefully. It is exciting news though. I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into some flex now that the pricing is a bit more reasonable. :) After, the meeting we kicked on down at Paddies Irish pub for a bit of 'networking'. It was a good night and good to catch up with a few familiar faces. Good to meet a few new ones too. Anyhoo, here we are, the keynote is about to start and the room is buzzing with a geek factor well above 10..

Except for Central... it died a slow and painful death...
But a new child is born... Apollo
I am a Macromedia's FreeHand user since quite some time. When I heard about Adobe buying Macromedia I was in shock. I was almost sure Adobe would kill FreeHand just to make Illustrator the only wise guy in the block.
Do you know where can I find information about this? Will FreeHand have a major improvement to make it a better tool, with better color workflow, which is Adobe's strong advantage.
Alex, I'm not sure about the official line on this, but Mark Blair may have a better idea... It may be worth hitting some of the lists to see if there's any more info too.
