jmpj.net added to MXNA

I've just been added to MXNA .. very cool. However, I havn't been posting much lately since I'm right in the final coding stage of a major project at work. It's keeping me pretty much flat out and every other spare minute I've got I'm trying to spend with my wife Paula. We're just about to have our first baby ... he's due in about 3 weeks. We haven't decided on a name yet, but if there's any ideas out there I'd love to hear them ... and no we're not calling him Cold Fusion or Flex. Although, Flex does have a cool superhero type ring to it.. :)

Name picking, so damn hard.

My advice, wait until he/she is born. When you pick them up and look into his/her eyes you'll just know a name.

We also picked a name early and every time we referred to him (we knew it was a boy) we would use "Zacharey" kind of a try before you buy type thing heeh. We ended up with corey.

But.. it doesn't do any harm to prepare a list hehehe.

My favourites were:
1. Corey (which he ended up getting)
2. Zacharey
3. Seth
4. Maison (wife's choice)
5. Scott (after me, but to tacky the whole jr thing)

Girls names we are partial to:
1. Kaitlen
2. Anne
3. Amber
4. Melanie
5. Selina.

Grats on both counts btw, (MXNA + baby)

If I felt comfortable changing my last name, I'd have to go with Homer's method of picking one off an everyday appliance. "Max Power" from the hair dryer was great.

Seriously, though, if you are Christian, common biblical names always seem pretty safe. Matthew, Mark, John, Luke, Peter, Michael, etc. You just need to stay away from the Deuteronomies and the Ezekiels.

Lastly, I would stay away from the obviously female chosen names like Dalton, Brandon, Chase, etc. Unless, of course, the wife insists.

i guess times really have changed. a boy named Nathanael, Riley, etc. would get beaten up quite a lot when i was a kid. and if parents brought what the parish priest called a "hollywood" name to a baptism, he'd change it on the spot to one of the saints.

some food for thought, thai's give kids, usually cute, nicknames. cat, fish, gift from heaven, etc. though i've heard some real good ones up-country like M-16, torpedo, water buffalo, smells funny, and monkey boy. i guess these were more descrptive than anything else ;-)

Cheers Scott. Before we knew the gender we had a list a mile long of girls names. There's so many pretty girl names around. After almost 9 months we've still only got a handful of boy names. Nathanael, Riley, Nicholas. Just to stir up my wife I keep telling her I want to call him Bill, after my grandfather. She doesn't like it much, but I think simple, good old fashioned names are great... Maybe, Bill for the middle name. ;)

Paul, I don't think monkey boy would quite float with the wife, but if I can just convince her of the goodness of a simple name like Bill I think I'll be able to rest easy. ;)

Mike, thanks for the ideas. I was thinking Shem might be an option, but I'd have to run it past the boss.
