Two words come to mind when describing my first week in Jakarta, 'Explosive Decompression', and I'm not talking about the plane. While driving the porcelene bus I came up with a nifty little catch phrase the Jakarta tourism board may like to use...."Jakarta - A God forsaken hell hole with great shopping". Don't get me wrong, I love Indonesia, but I'll be steering clear of Jakarta in future if I can. The sanitation conditions are to put it mildly, sub standard. Almost everyone in the house here has the dreaded stomach bug and worst of all my little son Nathanael is having a rough time of it. Anyhow, I've had my little cry. I'm hoping for a better week next week.
