Google is hiring

Google Australia are looking for software engineers and project managers to join their R&D team. This article from ZDnet suggest that they're taking a "don't call us, we'll call you approach". I wonder what you have to do to get them to notice you.

Recently, I received an email through my "Contact Me" section of my blog. It was from a recruiter at Google who commented that he was amused that I had so many interests, including Linux. I discovered from my web logs that he was Googling with a complex search string for blogs that contained Linux Enthusiast or Linux Hobbyist, along with some optional parameters for Python. Python and shell scripting seem to play an important component to their Linux Sys Admin positions, and I fall short in the former.

I did a bit of Googling, too, and found the recruiter had approached others in a similar manner. At a minimum, everyone seems to enjoy the ego rush of Google's approach.
